Security Dvr Card

I tried to hook up my Security Camera System (dvr) at my business to the router (provided by phone company) for my dsl. When I do this my credit card reader no longer connects to the server. Why is this happening
The security system is online and keeping the Credit card reader from connecting using the Phone line. It has to do with priority in the computer of which system is using the modem.
You will most likely have to get the phone man in there to set up a separate line for the credit card reader.
