security camera installation

security installation?
about how much would be the charge if i got someone to install a security system....with about 6 cameras, do all wiring, dvr and the rest of things that come with it.
Tough question to answer since we don't know:
where the installation is,
the type of building or area to be covered,
the cable runs out to the cameras and back to the DVR,
if adding power is needed,
whether indoor only or if any outdoor rated cameras are required,
how they would be mounted,
if heating/cooling housings are needed - we don't know what part of what country you are located,
whether any of the cameras require infrared zero light vision,
how far they need to see in the dark,
if you need any pan-tilt-zoom capabilities and how you want to control that,
how long the video needs to be stored in the DVR,
what your plans are in case of power outage,
if you need a battery bback up, how long it needs to last - minutes, hours or days...
what kind of monitor you want to use - or how many monitors you want to use,
whether you need computer access to the video and if/how that network integration is going to happen...
There's more - but just for the hardware, I think budgeting $1,000 for a consumer-grade 8 channel DVR (they don't come in 6-channel, that I know of) and a BIG hard drive... and $150 each for consumer-grade, medium resolution, outdoor rated, night-vision cameras with a throw of about 75 feet (6 cameras x $150 = $900... and these are not expensive), plus tax... round numbers, about $2,000 just for the basic hardware (DVR and cameras). It will be relatively easy to come in under this $2,000 budget, but not by much - it is the labor and other materials that are the big unknown. Drop the cameras to low resolution black & white with no night vision and the $/cam drop to about $30 each.
Labor and materials (and drilling and patching and pulling cables) will depend on the surveillance area installation requirements. Monitors and other "features" (PTZ, cabling to multiple monitors, etc) are more $... For budgeting, maybe something a little less than $10,000 for easy and basic. More for complex (additional monitors, adding to a computer network, battery back up for the DVR, cameras and at least one monitor, etc...)
