How can you tell if a security camera is fake?
My neighbour has 2 security cameras on his outside walls pointing at my house. When I complain to the police they don't do anything.
It could be that they are fake, there are no wires, movement or any sort of lights. Also an incident with him and involving the police, they didn't use his cameras for evidence which they easily could of done but instead they got witness statements.
How can you tell if they are dummy cameras?
with real cameras there are usually two wires one for power and one for the video feed from the camera although this can be wireless and the power wire can on some models go through the mounting bracket directly into the camera to prevent it from being cut! so just because there is no wire showing does not guarantee it to be fake !!!!
most cameras for domestic use are static mounted so there is no movement
depends on where you live in some country's they have to have a red LED to show that there working
also it will depend on the focal length and the distance from your home and whether it is pointing directly through your window rather than protecting his property different country's even county's have differing laws which govern this so check out you local by laws
as to police using witness statements they do that anyway with or without cameras
also they don't take away the camera just the tape that the camera has recorded so how would you know if they had used security footage

I have no trouble with them but there is very strict guide line for installing them when you are facing someones window check out you local laws on the matter
