What is a good PCI video card, that you can purchase for under 100 dollars?
I recently purchased the Cataclysm expansion from Blizzard, and I am having some very low frame rate speeds, and the game is crashing on occasion.
I was wondering what a good Video card would be, that would allow me to play the game at a higher setting, along with a better frame rate.
My computer only shows a PCI slot
Could A PCI-E run in a PCI slot?
Computers with only PCI slots are pretty much hosed... they cannot be upgraded sufficiently to play modern games at high settings, because the PCI slot has such limited bandwidth.
PCI slots are useful for sound cards, network cards, etc but are glacially slow compared to the dedicated interfaces for graphics cards - AGP (also obsolete) and PCI-Express. Even the best PCI card in existence is inferior to a $50 PCI-E x16 card.
The PCI version of the GeForce 9500GT is the best card available for that interface:

However if you really want to play newer games you're better off upgrading your motherboard to one with a PCI-Express x16 slot, if possible.
Note- the interfaces are not compatible. PCI and PCI-E are completely different
