alarm system is acting up! help?
hey, i have an alarm system and it is being really weird! normally i set it to set or away and if i up the garage door (the one that leads into the house) the alarm would go off. now the chime normally goes off if you open the door no matter what. but here is what happens now, the door will chime if opened IF the alarm if off. if i turn it on (either stay or away) the chime will not go off AND the alarm will also not go off. but just to that door if you open any other door or window or motion sensor then it goes off. we what i know now is that (because it chimes) the contact sensor still works but thats it. any ideas? and please don't say to call the alarm company! i did and they can't get someone out here for 3 weeks!!!!
Im trying to follow all of these. It sounds like the backup battery maybe weak and or dead. It can cause the alarm to do funny things. That would be mine first guess. If you have not changed it in the last 5 years its probably due. Some system will beep randomly to alert you that the battery need replacing. The other issue not sure. But that would be where I would start. If no luck you can always shut the alarm box off till they can get put there and figure out whats going on. 3 weeks Id call another company thats a joke. Just my 2 cents
